Fire and Rescue Training School Representatives at Career Days in Klaipėda: Virtual Reality Experience through the SAFAR Project

The Fire and Rescue Training School took part in the career event “Your Career: Choose and Act” in Klaipėda. The event was a great opportunity for students from the port city who are thinking about a profession that requires courage, determination, and a true sense of calling to meet the school’s representatives and learn more about the firefighter-rescuer career.

During the event, the school’s representatives introduced the firefighter-rescuer profession, explained admission requirements, training programs, and possible career paths. Students were able not only to listen but also to experience the profession in a practical and engaging way.

Special attention was given to the virtual reality (VR) glasses, presented as part of the SAFAR project. Using VR technology, students could safely experience realistic rescue scenarios, see how decisions are made in emergency situations, and better understand the daily challenges of firefighters. This innovative training method helps to develop practical skills and prepares future rescuers for real-life situations.

The career days in Klaipėda became a valuable opportunity to communicate directly with young people who are looking for a meaningful and socially important profession. The strong interest shown by students confirmed that events like this help young people make informed career choices.

The event once again showed that the firefighter-rescuer profession is not only a job, but also a mission, for which modern technologies are now an important part of training.
